OURIST AND LEISURE FACILITIES
The Burgh of Tain makes an ideal base from which to tour Easter Ross, being within easy reach of many attractions in the area. In the town itself, 'Tain Through Time' Museum is not far from the Morangie House Hotel and well worth a visit. The renowned Glenmorangie Distillery is just a few minutes' drive from the hotel. A little further north, across the firth, lies the town of Dornoch with its noble cathedral and interesting Heritage Centre, Historylinks. |

Further up the east coast, at Golspie, is Dunrobin Castle, set in stunning grounds by the seashore. Inland, north of Bonar Bridge, are the beautiful Falls of Shin, where salmon can be seen leaping in the summer months. There are forest walks nearby, plus a restaurant and gift shop.
Other facilities not far from the hotel include swimming pools in Tain and Golspie, pony-trekking, cycling (with bicycle hire available locally), and, of course, Golf. See our Golf page for more details. The Hotel would be delighted to arrange Tee Times – subject to prior arrangement. |

The diverse and unspoilt beauty of the Highlands is just waiting to be discovered, from fine, clean beaches such as Dornoch, Golspie and Balintore, and the Caledonian pinewoods around Glen Affric to the 'Flow Country' - the open peat bogs of Sutherland and Caithness.
The Highlands are home to a variety of wildlife: grey seals and dolphins, pine martens and red squirrels, wading birds, buzzards, red kites and eagles to name but a few. Exploring the beauty of the surrounding countryside is both relaxing and invigorating and adds to the pleasure of your stay. See our Links page for more information about attractions available throughout the year. Photographs courtesy of Murray MacLeod |
